The New Battle Cry: Kill the RINOS?

CONSERVATIVES CAN’T WIN!

After Ted Nugent wrote that outrageously short-sighted and abjectly stupid piece for Human Events that basically calls for open season on all RINOS, other easily led conservatives are chiming in.  I’m not linking because I don’t want to give him that much credit. And, I never did like his music.

It’s all part of the “great GOP civil war” or is it?  I remember 4 years the Democratic Party was dead and buried. While we were celebrating their demise, they became terribly liberal.  While Republicans in the House were becoming so corrupt they felt they could act …

Obama, the War, & the Patriot Act

QUIT COMPLAINING!

Conservative pundits and bloggers are starting to complain about the possibility that Barack Obama may tinker with the Patriot Act.  They are terrified he may do so.

I don’t think they have stopped to think through their opposition to his putting an end or to watering it down to the point where it is impotent.

Do we really want someone like Barack Obama in charge of rounding up “terrorists” who may or may not actually be terrorists but just political opponents?

I am okay with the Patriot Act while George W. Bush is in charge, but I …

Palin Steals Obama’s Thunder

PALIN 2012!

The week following a normal Presidential election is historically to be the week the POTUS-elect explodes onto the world scene with a much deserved victory lap.

The POTUS-elect is now the center of the universe (or so he thinks).

He is the be all and the end all, the alpha and the omega.

He is to be feted.

He is to be celebrated.

He is all that!

Every reporter in the world wants to snag THE interview.

He is the subject of every conversation.

He grabs every headline.

No one ever steals his thunder.

The losing …

James D. Puckett, a Vet, my Greatest Teacher, and a Good Republican!

WHY I AM A WRITER

If we are fortunate, once in our lives we will have a teacher who inspired us enough to challenge us and help mold the direction of our lives.  James D. Puckett did just that for me.

Mr. Puckett ran away as a kid and lied about his age when he joined the Army.  There were stories that he rode with Pershing, but I'm not going to swear to it.  He ended up in North Africa where he was a truck driver.  He fought in the Battle of Tobruk, where he was captured by the Germans.  …

Is “Community Service” a Punishment, Honor, Duty, or Freely Given

DESTROYING GOOD DEEDS
While I was in high school I volunteered as a candy striper. I think I did well over 1000 hours of volunteering, all freely given.  There was no requirement of “community service” at that time for those of us in high school.  In fact, there were some parties who made fun of us for volunteering.  I had a good time and was never recognized for my work, which never bothered me one way or another.  I think I quit because I became gainfully employed (sort of).

Those hours of volunteer work taught me quite a bit.  The …

Obama Derangement Syndrome – The Beginning

LET'S NOT GO THERE

Henry Wickham wrote a commentary at American Thinker today comparing Barack Obama to the “Kingfish” – Huey Long.  While I admit the thought is rather interesting, when does this become Obama Derangement Syndrome?

Let's be honest, Republicans did not look their best during the Clinton years.  I don't know about you, but I absolutely refuse to go there this time.  Beating up on a candidate during the primaries is fair game.  It's politics, therefore it's war.  But, now that The One is going to ascend on high and become messiah elect, maybe we should try and …

The Great Migration, Part II

JUST ONCE….?

Just once I want something to go easy.  Just once. But then I wouldn't know how to behave. Such is life.

Evidently there is a problem transferring the ASCII characters from blogware to word press.  Here-to-fore transferring was evidently fairly easy.  It appears I was pushing the envelope, shall we say.

So we're at a stand-off.

The suggestion is to start blogging over at the word press site (now stripped of all posts) and use this one for an archive.  Since I'm traveling this week I can think about it.

I apologize for the whole blasted mess.

Any …
