A P. S. to this article – The Pondering American has been researching William Greene (who is promoting Simcox) and Right March.  After you read the piece about Simcox, you need to read his.  It puts things into perspective and shows us how badly we are being scammed.

The Pink Flamingo has been covering Chris Simcox and the misc. minutemen,et al…for some time. The Simcox-Keyes Scam; and the Minuteman Feeding Frenzy.

Once upon a time Simcox was something of a ‘joke’. “…The Rev. Robert Carney is a former St. Louis resident who left town to enter the priesthood at 43. For years, he served in parishes along the Arizona border. Today, he runs a binational, interfaith group to promote understanding about the reasons migrants make the illegal trek. Some of the armed groups are more worrisome to him than others. “I don’t think we’re overly concerned with Chris Simcox. He is not recognized by any of the other vigilante groups. They kind of laugh at him, really. But there are others who are very dangerous people that we’ve been concerned about from the beginning,” he said. Carney said Ranch Rescue didn’t have great numbers. “But we have people who have gone in to see their weaponry and have been frightened by what they saw there...”

“I dare the president of the United States to arrest Americans who are protecting their own country,” Simcox said, in comments carried by the Washington Times earlier this year. “We will no longer tolerate the ineptness of the government in dealing with these criminals and drug dealers. It is a monumental disgrace that our government is letting the American people down, turning us into the expendable casualties of the war on terrorism.” Salon article by Max Blumenthal.

The ego Simcox nurishes is revealed in this press release from the new defunct Civil Homeland Defense organizatoin. A message from Simcox to the world.  “From: Chris Simcox — Civil Homeland Defense 

CHD received information yesterday morning (Tuesday) that most field Border Patrol agents were being called in to increase security at the port of entry stations. CHD members held an emergency meeting and have decided to fill in for the government and help our friends, neighbors and countrymen, again. Yesterday, I spoke with a Mexican news agency and issued a warning that all illegal entrants attempting to breach our border during a time of war in which National Security is at a critical level would be ignorant and unwise. I stated that all illegal entries would be treated as enemies of the state and will be detained and held in contempt of invading the United States of America.

I have sent this message to Governor Napolitano and to Border Patrol’s Tucson sector headquarters and alerted supervisors that once we enter war with Iraq, CHD will deter, detain and apprehend anyone who attempts to flee a CHD citizen volunteer. All illegal invaders will be detained until Border Patrol agents arrive to transport them back across the border. We will humanely supply them with water, food, blankets and medical attention to the best of our abilities.

Since our government officials have basically notified the world that the border fence is not being patrolled, it is now more important than ever for citizens to rise to the occasion and fill a void in National security.

CHD volunteers will now patrol the border with over 100 fully armed Citizens who consider themselves members of the unorganized state militia; we have the legal right and moral obligation as per our Arizona State Constitution and Federal Constitution and our respect for American citizens.

Our intent is to send a strong message to the world that we will stand defiant to invaders and protect the borders of our country.

A message to the world: Do not attempt to cross the border illegally; you will be considered an enemy of the state; if aggressors attempt to forcefully enter our country they will be repelled with force if necessary!

Here is the story that started it all.

This expose gives me no pleasure.  I met Chris several years ago, not long after he took over the helm of the Tombstone Tumbleweed.  He gave my friends and I a break when we needed one.  I appreciate that very much, so when Chris began working on the illegal immigration problems, I paid attention.  I knew the guy, and from my experience found him to be upfront about things.  It bothered me when he began to associate with Jim Gilchrist.  I saw Chris as being manipulated by Gilchrist who immediately came across to me as a snake-oil salesman.  The addition of Gilchrist into the movement brought this disturbing underbelly of ‘hate’.  For several years now I’ve thought something was wrong, but could never put my finger on it.  I watched as Chris appeared to change.  When he and Gilchrist appeared to ’split’ I breathed a sigh of relief ant thought maybe things will be okay.  Unfortunately they are not. 

The problem is, now, I don’t know what the truth is. I know the attitudes of mutual acquaintances.  Some are quite candid, others have been assimilated.  Others handle the issue with kid gloves.  One has told me of the threats he received when he began questioning the whole ‘minuteman thing’.  Another has made several comments about associates of associates.  There is something that seriously bothers me.  I have noticed when I bring the subject up, people change the subject or refuse to answer, or laugh it away as a bunch of crack-pots.  But, deep down, I pick up this aura of fear, not of illegals but of the whole minuteman movement and their associates. 

In the past I have been criticized for what some assume is my jumping to conclusions about the minutemen, their associates, white supremacists, neo-nazis, and other anti-immigration groups.  I wish I were jumping to conclusions.  I wish I could rely on well-researched material from ‘trusted’ conservative sources, but unfortunately many if almost all of these sources have been assimilated.  They are refusing to delve into the issue.  I don’t know if it is because they honestly believe these people are telling the truth or are downright ignoring the questionable associations because they don’t want to admit they exist.  It is possible these people have good intentions, but hell is paved with good intentions. 

Or, and this is the part of it that terrifies me – these people support these questionable sources because they believe in exactly what these sources do, say, and believe.  Lord help us all if this is the case. 

But then, again, a libertarian blogger contacted me about two months ago.  He told me the problem is conservatives are ignoring what The Pink Flamingo was exposing because it is highly embarrassing to them because they’ve been ‘connected’.  Liberals are ignoring it because they are enjoying the predicament the conservatives find themselves in right now.  If this is the case, then conservatives are just as intellectually dishonest as liberals and we’ve all been sold a false bill of goods.

Simcox answers critics, “….There have also been many questions asked as to how I make a living. I am not salaried by MCDC—otherwise, it is no one’s business. I have never felt the need to publicly defend my integrity—above all else: to thine own self be true.

However, in light of the circumstances of malicious attacks, I will, this one last time, reveal personal information to answer the critics.

The hours of toil and sacrifice necessary to run this national organization has taken a toll on my personal life and has led to my shutting down my newspaper—The Tombstone Tumbleweed. My present source of income has been the honorariums and fees received from organizations who request me for speaking engagements. I have also received money from selling my life story for a movie that will soon go into production. Even with those combined sources of income, I have made just enough to keep my head above water. The remainder of my living expenses is covered by my devoted and dedicated wife, who shares my passion for the MCDC mission.

I do foresee a need come the new year for me to request a modest salary to maintain my role as president of MCDC. If the board and national directors do not agree then it will be necessary for me to leave the organization and return to teaching—or I may need to go get a job at Wal-Mart or Home Depot!…”

So just who is Chris Simcox?  The problem with dealing with any ‘normal person who has done nothing to warrent public attention over the years is the difficult time obtaining information about them.  For Simcox, we must rely on ‘opposing’ sources.  The one most often quoted is from the SPLC by Susy Buchanan and David Holthouse.

Threats, Anger and Paranoia
The truth is more complex and troubling. Court records obtained by the Center’s Intelligence Project show Simcox’s second ex-wife, Kim Dunbar, filed an emergency appeal in September 2001 to obtain full custody of their teenage son because she feared that Simcox had suffered a mental breakdown and was dangerous.

Dunbar declined to be interviewed for this article, but her sworn affidavits speak for themselves. In one, Dunbar testified that throughout their 10-year marriage, Simcox was prone to sudden, violent rages.

“He once took a knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill himself,” she testified. “When he was angry, he broke furniture, car windows, he banged his head against the wall repeatedly and punched things.”

Dunbar said that when their son was 4 years old, Simcox slapped him so hard that a mark remained on his face for two days. Another time, she testified, she grabbed her young son in her arms and jumped out a window because Simcox was throwing furniture at them.

After such episodes, she said, Simcox would become despondent. “He would stare at walls, mumbling to himself.” In the affidavits, Dunbar said she repeatedly pressured Simcox to seek professional help and even tried to have him hospitalized. But he persistently refused treatment.

“Eventually,” she said, “the only thing I could do was file for divorce.”

Simcox and Dunbar initially shared custody of their son. There was no legal dispute until shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, when Dunbar suddenly filed a flurry of emergency appeals.

“While Chris has always been prone to strong opinions and ranting behavior, this last episode has gone even farther,” she told the court. “I am convinced he has had some kind of mental lapse and I am now, more than ever, afraid for my son to be in Chris’ care.”

Dunbar grew frightened after Simcox left her a series of bizarre voicemail messages beginning that Sept. 13, in which he went on angry diatribes about the Constitution, patriotism, and impending nuclear attacks on Los Angles, and talked about training their 15-year-old son in the use of firearms. “

The court ruled in Dunbar’s favor, ending the joint custody arrangement and awarding Dunbar sole custody of their son.

Simcox has said that after leaving Los Angeles he tried to become a Border Patrol agent but was rejected for being too old. After settling in Tombstone, he worked for a while as a gunfight-show actor before purchasing the local newspaper, The Tombstone Tumbleweed.

Simcox initially told followers he had drained his son’s college fund to pay for the paper, but later switched to claiming he had emptied his own retirement account. Simcox used the paper to rail against illegal immigration and to recruit volunteers for Civil Homeland Defense, the outfit he founded in 2002 and described in the Tumbleweed as a “committee of vigilantes.”

In January 2003, while on patrol with Civil Homeland Defense, Simcox was arrested by federal park rangers for illegally carrying a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun in a national park. Also in Simcox’s possession at the time of that arrest, according to police records, were a document entitled “Mission Plan,” a police scanner, two walkie-talkies, and a toy figure of Wyatt Earp on horseback.

Two months later, in a speech to the California Coalition on Immigration Reform, a hate group whose leader, Barbara Coe, routinely refers to Mexicans as “savages,” Simcox offered a dire warning to his audience.

“Take heed of our weapons because we’re going to defend our borders by any means necessary,” he said. “There’s something very fishy going on at the border. The Mexican army is driving American vehicles — but carrying Chinese weapons. I have personally seen what I can only believe to be Chinese troops.”

Of illegal immigrants, Simcox added: “They’re trashing their neighborhoods, refusing to assimilate, standing on street corners, jeering at little girls walking on their way to school.”

Simcox’s big mouth and swaggering manner inspired Tombstone locals and the numerous Simcox detractors within the Minuteman movement to nickname him “The Little Prince.”

Wherever he goes, Simcox seems to establish a reputation for arrogance. After failing as a would-be actor in Los Angeles, he took a job in 1990 teaching at a prestigious private academy, Wildwood School.

In interviews with the Intelligence Report, two of Simcox’s former teaching colleagues at the school describe him as an instructor who was exceptionally popular with students and parents but isolated himself from his fellow teachers with his condescending attitude.

“He always stayed up on the latest trends in childhood development and teaching methods, and he was always talking about himself like he was God’s gift to teaching,” said one teacher who taught at Wildwood at the same time as Simcox.

“He had this real holier-than-thou attitude, like he was so far above the other teachers they should be grateful he was even discussing his methods with them. He was insulting.”

‘A Drastic, Dangerous Guy’
There’s one trend that Simcox seems oblivious to — the growing involvement of racists in the border vigilante movement. Despite the fact that white supremacist groups openly recruit for Minuteman patrols and that a handful of neo-Nazis from the National Alliance and Aryan Nations did sign up for the Minuteman Project in April, Simcox refuses to acknowledge that vigilante border patrols are potentially a magnet for violent racists….”

And this one botheres me more than all the charges of white supremicists, etc.  “…That’s a strange rhetorical device given the accusations leveled at Simcox in the summer of 1998, when his 14-year-old daughter from his first marriage — prior to his union with Dunbar — came to live with him in Los Angeles.

In separate interviews with the Intelligence Report, two of Simcox’s former colleagues at Wildwood and his first ex-wife gave the same account. They said that Simcox helped his daughter get a job babysitting for a Wildwood School employee and that one night, Simcox’s daughter showed up unexpectedly at her employer’s house, visibly upset, alleging that her father had just attempted to sexually molest her.

“He tried to molest our daughter when he was intoxicated,” said Deborah Crews, Simcox’s first ex-wife and the girl’s mother. “When she ran out, he tried to say he was just giving her a leg massage and she got the wrong idea.”

Contacted by the Report, Simcox refused to answer four direct questions about the molestation allegations. “I would never answer those questions to you. You can’t ask those questions,” he said. “You’re on a witch hunt and you’re trying to discredit our movement, which is to secure the borders. … My personal life has nothing to do with anything that goes on here.”

No charges were filed against Simcox, but Crews said she and her daughter immediately broke off all contact with him.

“He’s a drastic, chaotic, very dangerous guy,” said Crews. “I’m surprised he hasn’t shot anybody yet. I see him on TV and I have to turn if off, because it makes me sick to see him getting all this attention.”

Simcox, now 44, recently married for a third time. He met his new wife, 25-year-old documentary filmmaker Alena Lyras when she traveled to Tombstone in April along with hundreds of other journalists to interview Simcox during the Minuteman Project. Simcox organized the massively hyped, month-long vigilante action with current Orange County, Calif., congressional candidate Jim Gilchrist, for whom Simcox says he has been stumping as a paid spokesman.

Simcox and Lyras were married in late August in Maricopa County, Ariz. Simcox sold The Tumbleweed in September and moved in with Lyras at her home in Phoenix. During the “America First” summit, Simcox said that Lyras is “useful to our movement, because she’s young enough that she’s been infiltrating the ACLU and other open borders groups and filming their meetings and protests…”  Now, remember what was reported above, the way Simcox HAD to get rid of the Tumbleweed?  Does this sound like the statement…”...The hours of toil and sacrifice necessary to run this national organization has taken a toll on my personal life and has led to my shutting down my newspaper—The Tombstone Tumbleweed…”  It isn’t quite the same, is it?

Now, check out the Max Bloumenthol version of the story.  “…Simcox, the Tumbleweed’s editor and owner, is in his element. After a failed marriage in Los Angeles, a stint of unemployment, the shock of Sept. 11, and three months camped out in the Arizona desert, he arrived here last year and has fashioned for himself a new life as the poster boy for the American anti-immigrant movement. He bought the newspaper in August; by October, he had clearly stamped it with his own personality. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” declared the Tumbleweed’s front page that month. “A PUBLIC CALL TO ARMS! CITIZENS BORDER PATROL MILITIA NOW FORMING!”

Within a month, Simcox claims, an untold number of Tombstone residents and others signed up to join his militia, called Civil Homeland Defense. Militia rules mandate that each member carry a pistol, for which a background check is required, and he or she must also wear a baseball cap emblazoned with an American flag. The group patrols along the Cochise County chaparral between Tombstone and Mexico, searching for people who look like illegal immigrants. When suspected illegals are caught, Simcox says, they are “humanely” placed under citizen’s arrest and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

There are those in Tombstone who say that the 41-year-old former teacher is an eccentric, an egomaniac and a threat to the local tourism industry. While Simcox says his militia has 600 members, others here say the number is far smaller. “Chris can only get a three-man patrol going,” says Jeff, a bartender at the Crystal Bar on Main Street. “Basically, the kind of people who want to join his group can’t even pass a background check….”

The article continues, bring out the dirty little secret anti-immigration sourced deny…”…In Cochise County alone, self-styled vigilante groups in recent years have harassed and detained hundreds, perhaps thousands, of migrants suspected of entering the country illegally. They claim they are only enforcing U.S. laws too often ignored by law enforcement officials. But human rights advocates are worried about a climate here and through much of southern Arizona that seems increasingly primed for violence.

In 2000 Miguel Angel Palafox, a 20-year-old migrant, was shot in the neck by two horsemen dressed in black who attacked him near the border town of Sasabe, about 50 miles east of Cochise County. Palafox crawled back to Mexico with a T-shirt wrapped around his wound and lived to tell the tale, though the riders remain unknown.

Last October, in the small town of Red Rock, between Tucson and Phoenix, two undocumented immigrants were found shot to death by a roadside. Manuel Ortega, a spokesman for the Mexican Consulate in Tucson, says the two victims were part of a group of 12 migrants resting around a pond south of the town. While most of the group slumbered, one of the migrants told the consulate staff, two masked men dressed in camouflage and armed with machine guns appeared from the woods, firing upon the group and killing the two before the others scattered. The Pinal County sheriff’s office is treating the killings as a dispute between rival people smugglers, or coyotes, but Ortega says his office has never seen a killing like that involving coyotes.

As co-director of the Tucson human rights group Derechos Humanos, attorney Isabel Garcia has campaigned to bring anti-immigrant vigilantes and brutal coyotes to justice for more than 25 years, and she sees good reason to question the focus of the sheriff’s investigation of the Red Rock murders. “It seems highly unlikely that coyotes would use camouflage clothes and highly unlikely that they would kill people who would bring in more money,” she said. “We’ve never seen that.”

No one has suggested that Simcox’s group is involved in the deadly violence. But critics say he is the embodiment of a troubling climate of intolerance and impatience that poses a vivid threat to Mexicans and other illegal migrants near the border. Local officials have condemned the vigilante activity. U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva of Tucson, a Democrat, has called for an investigation of the growing militia movement there…”

“…Were the Red Rock murders were committed by vigilantes? That’s “just speculation,” Ray replied. But don’t Simcox, Barnett and Spencer raise the risk of anti-immigrant violence when they act independent of the law to mete out justice? “The onus is simply on the federal government to regain control of the borders,” Ray said. “If they fail to do that and it goes on year after year, what we’re going to see is increasing numbers of citizens speaking out against out-of-control immigration and defending their property….”

The article continues, with information about the misc. anti-immigration groups, their connection to Tancredo and to Tanton.  What does Simcox think?  “…At the mention of Tancredo’s name, Chris Simcox leaps from his chair and yelps: “That’s my leader! I’d vote for him for president tomorrow!“

What is true and what isn’t? 

Are we dealing with a bunch of very nasty people or are we dealing with patriots – or a mix?

Let’s face it, we’re dealing with individuals who are not firing on all thrusters.  Are they unbalanced or just ego driven?  I’m not a psychologist, so don’t ask me.  But I do know a loose screw when I see one.

What about the Simcox fence scam?  This is what the TXminuteman bunch has to say about it – and it is not good.  The word “Scam” is used.

From yesterday’s Pink Flamingo: For weeks I have been telling you not all was sweetness and light when it came to Chris Simcox, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps  and all that money he is collecting.  First, how many people know it is not a non-profit organization and their money is not tax-deductable?  And where is it all going?  They are raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and accounting for none of it.  How about no honor among thieves.  Thanks to the Pondering American for this breaking news!  I’ve been telling you Simcox and the funds raised for his projects weren’t quite above reproach.  Now there is proof.  Wonder how the anti-immigration puppets are going to handle it?  Greene has helped to promote this scam.

Check out the Lucy Lawless email snagged by the SPLC.  She is directly involved with the minutemen.  She is directly involved with several neo-nazis.  What more information do you need?

You need to read this PDF from the minuteman bunch in TX to understand what is going on here.  S C A M   I believe for the past month or so I’ve been saying some of the Minuteman links doing add up.  This thing is an entangled mess.  I just feel sorry for the poor man who borrowed $120,000 to help these people.  Where the heck is the IRS when you need them?  This is the day by day staff work of Simcox and Hair.

You will want to read the profile of Simcox from Orcinus.  It is fascinating.  “You have to admire, in a way, people who can pull off a human-chameleon act, at least convincingly. People like Minuteman leader Chris Simcox.I drove up to Bellingham on Thursday to watch Simcox testify during the Washington Human Rights Commission hearing. For most of the night, Simcox and the Minutemen were under steady rhetorical barrage from local human-rights and Latino activists. At times, the rhetoric became overblown hyperbole; but much of it was deadly accurate. Bottom line…”…Simcox seems to be claiming that Lawless was only involved in the Minuteman Project for two months (and it would be interesting to find out further what “background” led them to dismiss her, since none of this activity occurred until recently) — which may actually be the case, though this overlooks her activities in Texas, which may or may not have been as a Minuteman representative. However, I asked him specifically about the (pre-Minuteman) Tombstone Militia involvement, and he was again adamant that she was only on board for “two months” — a claim the record clearly demonstrates is false.

Which tells you a lot about Chris Simcox’s makeover. The new, squeaky-clean Chris Simcox created by PR coaches may look and sound like a middle-of-the-road civic activist. But he is also a practiced liar. And anyone who believes a word he says should have their heads examined.”

This is where it all started – The Pioneer Fund

The Pioneer Fund was founded by Wickliffe Preston Drapier in 1937.  The Pioneer Fund’s list of founders and directors paints an august picture of him. 

This 1977 NYTimes piece paints an entirely different picture of him and of the Pioneer Fund.  It also makes you think twice about trusting anything that has a ‘conservative label’.  I do not like what I am finding. 

“…Wickliffe Preston Draper, the founder of The Pioneer Fund, is the epitome of an American Hitler in the guise of a philanthropic and well educated millionaire. His family owned Draper Corporation, in Hopedale, MA and both North and South Carolina and he was a staunch anti-Union activist from the early days of Sacco and Vanzetti Trial in Dedham, MA only 30 miles from his hometown of Hopedale, MA in the heart of the Blackstone Valley which was the home of the Industrial Revolution. He was also among the most ardent and vehement racists and anti-civil rights advocates in the history of this cause from as early as the 1930’s and perhaps earlier. His hatred of the United Nations, liberals, and his dislike for anyone who participated in the Nye Committees of the 1930’s which attempted to punish so-called “war profiteering” by the DuPonts, led to Draper’s deliberate persecution of Alger T. Hiss between 1948 and 1951 with the assistance of his cohort in racism, eugenics and white supremacy, Nathaniel Weyl, who is still alive today.

Draper’s vitriolic hatred for President John F. Kennedy was epitomized by his direct financial sponsorship of several publications that led the character assassination attacks on him during the 1950’s when he was a Senator from Massachusetts. These included Human Events, Right magazine, Noontide Press, The American Mercury and comparable rightist publications ostensibly owned and operated by The Liberty Lobby or affiliates, the foremost racist, proto-fascist and anti-Semitic organization that has ever existed in a Democracy. Only a Democracy could be brought to its knees by the sinister forces of fascism, operating under the protection of the First Amendment to the Constitution. This is a very sad commentary on our times and on the foibles of our once magnificent system of egalitarian democracy.

And, doesn’t this Pioneer Fund bio of  Harry Hamilton Laughlin sound wonderful? “…life-long scientist. Laughlin served as long-time director of the Eugenics Record Office at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island, New York, funded by the Carnegie Institute of Washington. Among his duties was the editing of the Eugenical News, which reported on scientific research and eugenic issues from around the world.  Born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in 1880, the son of a minister and academic, Laughlin grew up in Kirksville, Missouri. He first taught school for ten years before developing an interest in agriculture and plant and animal breeding. In 1910 Laughlin moved to Cold Spring Harbor. In 1917 he received a Doctorate of Science from Princeton for his work in genetics. During the 1920s and 1930s Laughlin served as an advisor to several Congressional Committees. He retired in 1941 and died in 1943.”

Well, they leave out a few things….” ….In the spirit of Dr. Josef Goebbels, he (Draper) and his close associate at The Pioneer Fund, Dr. Harry H. Laughlin, actually created and then championed the “involuntary sterilization movement in America” the so-called “Buck vs. Bell” Supreme Court case which was favorably reviewed by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. It led directly to the involuntary sterilization of over 75,000 human beings between 1924 and 1972 in the approximately 24 states which passed similar laws at the behest and encouragement of The Pioneer Fund. Sound familiar? But the first major achievement of his work and that of Herr Laughlin, was when Hitler and Goebbels invited Laughlin to receive an honorary degree for his work in passing “The Model Eugenics Laws in America”. Hitler used the Draper-inspired American Eugenics Model to pass the law which will go down in infamy as the Nuremberg Laws: “On the Prevention of Hereditarily Ill Progeny” – the so-called Holocaust Laws.”

From the SPLC’s expose on the Pioneer Fund:  “…With an original charter to pursue “race betterment” for those “deemed to be descended predominantly from white persons who settled in the original thirteen states prior to the adoption of the Constitution,” the Pioneer Fund was founded in 1937 in New York.

Many involved in the early years of the fund, including its first president Harry H. Laughlin, maintained “contacts with many of the Nazi scientists whose work provided the conceptual template for Hitler’s aspiration toward ‘racial hygiene’ in Germany,” according to an Albany Law Review article by Paul Lombardo. In The Funding of Scientific Racism, scholar William Tucker reveals how Pioneer board members and grantees sought to block the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

In recent decades, the Pioneer Fund has funded most American and British race scientists, including a large number cited in The Bell Curve. According to Barry Mehler, the leading academic critic of the fund, these race scientists have included Hans Eysenck, Robert A. Gordon, Linda Gottfredson, Seymour Itzkoff, Arthur Jensen, Michael Levin, Richard Lynn, R. Travis Osborne, Roger Pearson, J. Philippe Rushton, William Shockley and Daniel R. Vining Jr.

Last year, Rushton became the fourth president of the fund. He disavows the terms “inferior” and “superior” but, as psychologist Andrew S. Winston points out, Rushton has produced a chart in which blacks “are said to have, on average, smaller brains, lower intelligence, lower cultural achievements, higher aggressiveness, lower law-abidingness, lower marital stability and less sexual restraint than whites, and the differences are attributed partially to heredity.”

Pioneer grantees have also included white supremacist Jared Taylor. According to Hold Your Tongue, a book by education expert James Crawford, the Pioneer Fund also “aided the Institute for Western Values — the same group Cordelia May [Scaife, sister of Richard Mellon Scaife] paid to distribute [the racist book] The Camp of the Saints — in publishing the autobiography of Thomas Dixon,” whose racist novels helped spark the Klan’s rebirth in 1915.

Pioneer also has given grants to the American Immigration Control Foundation*, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, Roger Pearson’s Institute for the Study of Man, Jared Taylor’s New Century Foundation* and Project USA, an anti-immigration group run by a FAIR board member.”

Several years ago, the SPLC pegged the Pioneer Fund as a leading supporter and ‘parent’ of the anti-immigration movement.  Be aware it isn’t just anti-illegal – but anti-immigration. This is March, 2003.

“A few sectors of the radical right seemed to thrive. In particular, the world of academic racists — those who promote racial theories of intelligence and a return to the discredited “science” of eugenics, or “race betterment” — is doing well.

The Pioneer Fund, which funds such studies, has received new infusions of cash in the last two years. Funding is also up for the New Century Foundation, which publishes the eugenicist American Renaissance magazine, whose circulation has now reached 6,000.

In addition, anti-immigrant groups have benefited tremendously from worries about foreign terrorism that have some Americans wanting to shut down national borders. Several major vigilante groups are currently operating in southeastern Arizona, where they have participated in roundups of illegal immigrants. The activities of these groups, as well as the recent murders of a number of Mexicans as they tried to cross the U.S. border, have many officials deeply worried.

Again, from 2003 this FAIR (Fair Accuracy In Reporting) ”Recent media coverage of immigration has been dominated by anti-immigrant voices; immigrant and refugee rights advocates have been slighted. In this often one-sided discussion, no group has enjoyed more exposure than the anti-immigrant Federation for American Immigration Retorm (also abbreviated as “FAIR,” not to be confused with the media watch group FAIR). Media outlets have an obligation to balance this important debate and take a closer look at the motives and money behind the anti-immigration movement.

The Federation, led by spokesman Dan Stein, often appears in national media unopposed or paired with centrist politicians (NBC Today Show, 6/29/1993; CNN Inside Politics, 7/13/1993; CBS 60 Minutes, 3/14/1993). A database search shows that the Federation has been cited hundreds of times in mainstream media since 1993.

While presenting itself as an organization that simply advocates for immigration reform in the public interest, the Federation receives significant funding– rarely noted in press accounts– from a foundation that is explicitly motivated by a racist, eugenicist ideology.

For years, the Federation has been supported by the Pioneer Fund, a trust founded in 1937 by Wycliffe P. Draper, a textile millionaire who promoted sending blacks back to Africa. The Pioneer Fund has been described in the London Sunday Telegraph (3/12/89) as a “neo-Nazi organization closely integrated with the far right in American politics.”
Pioneer is one of the Federation’s key financial backers. According to Internal Revenue Service records, the group has received more than $1 million from Pioneer since 1982. In 1992, the most recent year for which figures are available, Pioneer gave the Federation $130,000.

The Pioneer Fund’s charter specified that its trustees should give scholarships only to students “who are citizens of the United States…who are deemed to be descended predominately from white persons who settled in the original 13 states prior to the adoption of the Constitution.” In 1983, due to public criticism, the word “white” was omitted from the charter (Washington Times, 7/3/91).

John Tanton founded the Federation in 1979 and was chairman when the group began receiving Pioneer Fund money in 1982. In 1983, Tanton founded U. S. English an English-only advocacy group. In 1988, conservative Linda Chavez resigned as president of U.S. English following the publication of a internal memo written by Tanton. The memo, which resulted from a closed meeting that included Federation for American Immigration Reform personnel, discusses the “dangers” of an Hispanic “population explosion.” In it Tanton declares, “Whites will see their power and control over their lives declining…. Perhaps this is the first instance in which those with their pants up are going to be caught by those with their pants down.” (Newsday, 10/16/1991)

As well you know, FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) is given national status by highly respectable pundits like Michael Reagan, Fox News, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and they have infiltrated the Heritage Foundation.  FAIR has this false veneer of respectability that makes it sacret to the RINO Conservatives in Congress, who either do not know about the Nazi links, pretend ignorance, or don’t care.  Either way, their acceptace of FAIR and the Pioneer Fund is unacceptable.

The article continues with even more nazi links.  “By accepting money from the Pioneer Fund, the Federation for American Immigration Reform puts itself in the company of a variety of racist projects. The Fund’s other beneficiaries in recent years have included:

–Roger Pearson, director of the Institute for the Study of Man. A Wall Street Journal article in 1984 dubbed Pearson a “Racial Purist” who advocated artificial insemination to preserve pure, healthy stock” and warned of “terrible consequences” should such a program of genetic selection “fall into the hands of the cosmopolites or or one-worlders, or any who wish to see our race and our heritage destroyed.”

Pearson’s Institute publishes Mankind Ouarterly, described in the London Independent (3/4/90) as a “mouthpiece” for neo-Nazi philosophies, with links to former Nazi geneticists. Last grant to Pearson from the Pioneer Fund: $119,300, 1992.

–A study at the University of Western Ontario, comparing cranium size, gonad size and IQ distribution among blacks, whites and Asians (Sunday Telegraph, 3/12/89). Last grant: $96,753, 1992.

–Dr. Michael Levin, professor of philosophy at City College who claims that blacks as a group have low IQs. Last grant: $64,500, 1992.

–The late Professor William B. Shockley, who recommended a “voluntary sterilization bonus plan,” or paying genetically “inferior” populations to be sterilized. (Sunday Telegraph, 3/1 2/89). Last grants were in the 1970’s; figures not available.”

The Pioneer Fund’s John Rushton is the subject of a study by The Bethune Institute for Anti-Fascist Studies:  “Joining Rushton on the editorial board of the Pioneer Fund is Richard Lynn, a psychologist with the University of Ulster, in Northern Ireland. Lynn, who shares Rushton’s racist positions, and has also long benefited from Pioneer Fund largesse, further claims that Africans are “more psychopathic” than whites, and have a marked tendency to develop “psychopathic personalities” which leads them to be more aggressive, more reckless, and more prone to lying than whites.

Lynn has been an associate editor of the fascist journal “Mankind Quarterly,” whose editorial board and circle of contributors has included Corrado Gini, a leading biologist in Mussolini’s Italy and author of “The Scientific Basis of Fascism,” and Ottmar von Verschuer, a racist scientist in Nazi Germany and mentor to Josef Mengele, the “butcher of Auschwitz.”

“Mankind Quarterly” is itself financed by the Pioneer Fund, and has been edited by Roger Pearson, who founded the neo-Nazi Northern League in 1958, along with several former Nazi SS officers. It should come as no surprise that “Mankind Quarterly” has published numerous papers by Philippe Rushton and the circle of racist and fascist scientists whose work has been paid for out of the bank accounts of the Pioneer Fund.

The connection between racist science and fascist politics could not be more evident. Indeed, as long ago as 1989, Rushton gave a speech to the Citizens for Foreign Aid Reform, an organization founded and led by Toronto-based anti-immigrant and pro-fascist propagandist Paul Fromm.

Fromm, in turn, has for years peddled and promoted Rushton’s books, and in 1990 he authored the pamphlet, “Race, Evolution, and AIDS: What Rushton Really Said.” At the present time, Fromm continues to sell his pamphlet, as well as Rushton’s “Race, Evolution, and Behavior,” and Glayde Whitney’s “Race, Genetics, and Society.” Whitney, a University of Miami racist psychologist also financed by the Pioneer Fund, wrote the introduction to Klansman David Duke’s autobiography “My Awakening,” available along with the other titles through Fromm’s organizations.

With right-wing governments in power across Canada and the USA, funding for science that legitimately serves the people is drying up. The corporate-driven political agenda has no need for history, sociology, philosophy, or any academic discipline that does not cater to the direct accumulation of private profit.

But with Philippe Rushton’s ascendancy to the control of the Pioneer Fund, the floodgates will be opened to every racist and fascist propagandist that hides behind the cloak of science. Segregation, the destruction of affirmative action, the elimination of non-white immigration, and eventually the establishment of a whites-only political state: these are the social policies that have always guided the Pioneer Fund and which will undoubtedly find many willing ears in this period when imperialism is tottering on the brink of fascism. …

Another important Pioneer Fund figure was Roger Preston, also a first class nazi!  The thing is, people have known about what was going on with the Pioneer Fund and anti-immigration for at least 10-15 years.  Ignorance is not bliss.  It is ignorance.

27 February, 1995 Policy-Making Influence of the Pioneer Foundation  “…The Northern League, for which Pearson was the London-based organizer in 1958, was a “white supremacist European organization that included former Nazi SS officials.” In 1959, Willis Carto, founder of the racist and anti-semitic Liberty Lobby, arranged a speaking tour for Pearson in the U.S. Carto’s magazine, Right, called Pearson “the world’s foremost spokesman for the scientific and forward-looking view of nationalism. He is held in renown by white nationalists the world over.” Pearson moved to the U.S. in 1965 in order to edit Western Destiny, a Carto publication whose editorial board included well-known racists and anti-Semites, including Austin App, the pro-Nazi leader of the German American National Congress (DANK) who wrote The Six Million Swindle, which claims the holocaust never happened. Pearson published four racist monographs during this time, one of which was called Race and Civilization, which stated that it was based on the ideas of Hans F.K. Gunther, who was a leading racial theoretician for the Third Reich, and who later worked with Pearson organizing the Northern League. In his 1966 book Eugenics and Race, Pearson wrote: “If a nation with a more advanced, more specialized, or in any way superior sets of genes mingles with, instead of exterminating, an inferior tribe, then it commits racial suicide….” It’s no wonder that Pearson’s monographs are still sold by neo-Nazi groups today….”

One of the things that bothers me about this whole anti-immigration thing is the Heritage Foundation.  I’ve wondered about a few things, and now I know why.  Preston was a close friend of the president of the Heritage Foundation.”…Pearson became associated with the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank influential in forming Reagan administration policy. Pearson was close to Edwin Fuelner, president of the Heritage Foundation, and joined the editorial board of Policy Review, the monthly HF magazine. In turn HF official Stuart Butler and editorial board member Ernest van den Haag (the long time writer for the National Review, who has publicly stated his opposition to school integration and support for Shockley’s sterilization proposals), joined the advisory committee of Pearson’s Journal of Social, Political and Economic Studies…“

World Net Daily, the ‘conservative internet tabloid’ version of the Weekly Star has published a list of 43 Leaders who have signed the following pledge:   They are connected to William Greene’s little PR manipulation machine and John Tanton.  The problem is sorting through their mess.  I am surprised to see David Horowitz linked with this taudry little bunch of incest and racism.  I think this is what shocks me most, is find David Horowitz a part of this whole mess.

The problem here is all of this is planned by Tanton.  At least people are starting to see through it.  I’ve noticed that FAIR is not listed here among the leadership list.  The History Channel has been doing some work on this.  Congressman Chris Cannon has born the brunt of the anti-immigration hatred of Tom Tancredo.  Problem is, all of this is promoted by Tanton and his questionable links.

“The Wall Street Journal Makes the Connection

Below is an excerpt from a March 15, 2004 editorial by Jason Riley, a senior editorial page writer at the Journal.

“So determined is conservatism’s nativist wing that it’s even made common cause with radical environmentalists and zero-population-growth fanatics on the leftist fringe. The Federation for American Immigration Reform and the Center for Immigration Studies may strike right-wing poses in the press, but both groups support big government, mock federalism, deride free markets and push a cultural agenda abhorrent to any self-respecting social conservative.

FAIR’s founder and former president is John Tanton, an eye doctor who opened the first Planned Parenthood chapter in northern Michigan. By Dr. Tanton’s own reckoning, FAIR has received more than $1.5 million from the Pioneer Fund, a white-supremacist outfit devoted to racial purity through eugenics.

Board members of FAIR actively promote the sterilization of Third World women for the purposes of reducing U.S. immigration prospects. And if anything disturbs the good doctor more than those Latin American hordes crossing the Rio Grande, it’s the likelihood that most of them are Catholic, or so he once told a Reuters reporter.”

There is more, much more.  Tanton is associated with the Pioneer Fund.  This NYTimes 1977 expose on the founders of the Pioneer Fund should say it all and many any decent person change their opinion of the US HOUSE version of anti-immigration.  It should also damn Tom Tancredo and a few more of his ilk.

The last time that Immigration laws were severely tightened was the 1924 Immigration Act which was accomplished, in my opinion, in direct anticipa- tion of the coming unrest in Europe during the 1930’s and 1940’s. The precisely identical intentions are at work today with this renewed emphasis on “Proposition 187″, which is intended to become “The Model Anti-Immigration Legislation in America” and for the rest of the world. ….the intention of the sponsors of “Proposition 187″ is to prevent those refugees targeted for “ethnic extinction” from ever reaching a safe haven in American or anywhere else in the free world for that matter. This is a very real and serious concern and every American who recognizes the true intentions of Proposition 187 should oppose it with their last breath and their last ounce of strength before it is too late.”

And a little more on Prop 187 and the laws Tanton helped pass, “Almost 30 states and many more local communities passed “English Only” statutes enshrining English as the language of official business. In 1994, after extensive campaigning by Tanton-supported groups, millions of Californians joined in passing Proposition 187, which denied social services to undocumented workers.Two years later, Tanton celebrated the passage of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, a law meant to cut illegal immigration that was heavily backed by anti-immigration groups. It required that asylum seekers be held in detention until they established a credible fear of persecution at home, a process that could take years.”

Wow, are you as impressed with all this leadership?  I know I am!  It makes me recall a line Sean Connery had in the last Indiana Jones movie about goose-stepping little Nazis…!

I don’t like dealing with the DailyKos, but there are some things here I’ve been trying to find for ages.  The problem with much of this is how bad it makes the Republican Party look when we are dealing with people who cannot possibly be Republicans, but conservatives first, wackos second, and who knows what else third, but not Republican.

The most fun with this whole taudry little piece of racism and betrayal is the fact that the people listed below are considered ‘leaders’.  I’ve not heard of two-thirds of them.  Have you?

Mike Pence, R-Ind., – which they call “amnesty lite” – are unacceptable.”

Voting Rights Act Stalled by Numbers USA

You know that stalled renewal of the Voting Right’s Act?  The Blog epluribusmedia has been doing a little snooping.  Guess What?  Numbers USA is behind it! 

According to epluribusmedia:  “The letter floated around Congress for the next few months and picked up an additional 23 signatures before it was presented to Chairman Sensenbrenner on June 21st.

Who’s Really Behind the King Letter

It now appears some questions have come to light about exactly who is behind both the King letter and the effort to shelve the renewal of the VRA. The official copy of the letter that appears on the web site of the US Congress (www. house.gov) apparently was not generated by a house member or their staff, but rather by one of the leading anti-immigration/English only advocacy groups.

The copy of the letter (now available only in HTML cache ) that originally appeared on the House of Representatives web site; http://www.house.gov/pence/rsc/doc/121205_King_Bilingual_Ballot.doc, appears to have been authored by someone named KC McAlpin using a computer registered to the anti-immigration advocacy group NumbersUSA.(1)

This fact raises questions as to the identity of KC McAlpin, his affiliation with NumbersUSA, how this particular file ended up on the web site of the House of Representatives, and who is behind the letter?” … But this case appears that it might be slightly different. In this case it is quite possible that the actual letter that 79 Representatives put their names on was not in fact authored by one of their own, but rather by outside interests, interests with some rather disturbing skeletons in the closet.”

BINGO…EPLURIBUSMEDIA has made the connection – and so we have another voice in the fight against Tanton!

K. C. McAlpine, of Pro English – (a leader?)  Epluribusmedia puts it this way and answers the question as to who McAlpine is:  “In the conference room of the House Judiciary Committee on June 21st , the nexus of Tanton’s two worlds converged. The philosophies of Jean Raspail and John Vinson met with the political realities of Tom Tancredo (R-CO) and Steve King (R-IA). In one fell swoop, over forty years of civil rights legislation was jeopardized in the name of protecting American from hordes of foreign speaking invaders intent on destroying Western culture. Although wrapped in the popular rhetoric of the Republican right, the letter presented to Judiciary Chairman Sensenbrenner had its roots in the philosophies of the WITAN letter, and the Pioneer Fund. Reframed and sanitized by groups like FAIR and CIS, these philosophies have been pushed to the forefront of political discourse. The seventy-nine signatories of McAlpin’s letter, like many Americans, have come to embrace a form of covert racism and xenophobia that passes for patriotism these days. With each passing day, polls show they are slowly but surely gaining support from the American people. But this would come as no surprise to Tanton, he’s been working his entire life to assure an America where, as Max Blumenthal wrote in The Nation, “most of the ultra-right’s signature issues have been co-opted by pseudo-populist media personalities and Republican politicians.”

“KC McAlpin is the Executive Director of an organization called ProEnglish. According to their website, they are “the nation’s leading advocate(s) of official English. (They) work through the courts and in the court of public opinion to defend English’s historic role as the common, unifying language of the United States of America, and to persuade lawmakers to adopt English as the official language at all levels of government.”

The group is one of thirteen like-minded organizations founded by anti-immigrant advocate John Tanton. Tanton’s multi-million dollar web of groups includes not only ProEnglish and NumbersUSA, but also the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and the Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR).”

Besides anti-immigration projects, the Pioneer Fund has also used its money for eugenic research. Eugenics is defined as “the study of hereditary improvement of the human race by controlled selective breeding.” New York millionaires created the Pioneer Fund “and charged it with backing research in heredity, eugenics and ”race betterment.” (Phoenix New Times, Jingo All the Way, December 25, 1997)

When questioned about Pioneer Fund contributions, Tanton “claimed ignorant about the Pioneer Fund’s connection to numerous researchers seemingly intent on proving the inferiority of blacks, as well as its unsavory ties to Nazism. Among materials published by Tanton’s Social Contract Press include the video Immigration by the Numbers, by Roy Beck, the executive director of NumbersUSA. Ellen Grigsby,Open Doors USA (make sure you check out their fundraising percentages – I won’t say ‘rip-off’ but only 30% of what they collect for chairity goes to charity.)  It really makes mad because I thought these people were doing good things.  Ellen Grigsby is a law professor and a writer.  I would not classify her as a ‘leader’.

Joan L. Hueter, American Council for Immigration Reform  (Hueter and this specific organization don’t even google!  I can’t find a record of them.  It must be one of those ‘ghost’ organizations.)

Mark Krikorian,Center for Immigration Studies  (Krikorian’s work appears in NRO, and the top conservative publications.  He is a Tanton shill).

Krikorian is a darling over at National Review, but yet he is a close associate of John Tanton who is a true liberal.  Another case of fake conservative syndrome?  Even the History Channel could see see through Kirkorian, so why can’t RINO Conservatives? ”The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which was founded by John Tanton, is the parent group of the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) headed by Mark Kirkorian. Tanton wrote a memo on July 11, 1986 stating, To expand our fund-raising machine, we created the Center for Immigration Studies last year. We need to get CIS fully funded and entrenched as a major Washington think-tank, one that can venture into issues which FAIR is not yet ready to raise. Tanton is the infamous anti-population activist who said in a memo written in 1988 that continued immigration from Latin America would lead to the peaceful takeover of the nation by a group that is simply more fertile.”

A little more on FAIR from the SPLC:  “Yes, similarly, we’ve found that a woman named Rosemary Jenks, a lobbyist for NumbersUSA, is now working part-time out of the office of Rep. Tom Tancredo.

IR: Are there other important methods that Tanton has employed? One of his big arguments has always been that immigration hurts blacks. FAIR has bought radio advertising on black radio stations to push that vision. A prime example was in Chicago 10 or 12 years ago, when an ad ran basically saying, “You know why you don’t have a job? Because some undocumented Mexican came in and stole yours from you.”FAIR also has hired black professionals and has put a lot of effort into building alliances with African-American intellectuals, because the unfortunate reality is that there is a lot of anti-immigrant sentiment in the black community. It all started with the Pioneer Fund.

And, doesn’t this Pioneer Fund bio of  Harry Hamilton Laughlin sound wonderful? “…life-long scientist. Laughlin served as long-time director of the Eugenics Record Office at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island, New York, funded by the Carnegie Institute of Washington. Among his duties was the editing of the Eugenical News, which reported on scientific research and eugenic issues from around the world.  Born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in 1880, the son of a minister and academic, Laughlin grew up in Kirksville, Missouri. He first taught school for ten years before developing an interest in agriculture and plant and animal breeding. In 1910 Laughlin moved to Cold Spring Harbor. In 1917 he received a Doctorate of Science from Princeton for his work in genetics. During the 1920s and 1930s Laughlin served as an advisor to several Congressional Committees. He retired in 1941 and died in 1943.”

Well, they leave out a few things….” ….In the spirit of Dr. Josef Goebbels, he (Draper) and his close associate at The Pioneer Fund, Dr. Harry H. Laughlin, actually created and then championed the “involuntary sterilization movement in America” the so-called “Buck vs. Bell” Supreme Court case which was favorably reviewed by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. It led directly to the involuntary sterilization of over 75,000 human beings between 1924 and 1972 in the approximately 24 states which passed similar laws at the behest and encouragement of The Pioneer Fund. Sound familiar? But the first major achievement of his work and that of Herr Laughlin, was when Hitler and Goebbels invited Laughlin to receive an honorary degree for his work in passing “The Model Eugenics Laws in America”. Hitler used the Draper-inspired American Eugenics Model to pass the law which will go down in infamy as the Nuremberg Laws: “On the Prevention of Hereditarily Ill Progeny” – the so-called Holocaust Laws.”

From the SPLC’s expose on the Pioneer Fund:  “…With an original charter to pursue “race betterment” for those “deemed to be descended predominantly from white persons who settled in the original thirteen states prior to the adoption of the Constitution,” the Pioneer Fund was founded in 1937 in New York.

Many involved in the early years of the fund, including its first president Harry H. Laughlin, maintained “contacts with many of the Nazi scientists whose work provided the conceptual template for Hitler’s aspiration toward ‘racial hygiene’ in Germany,” according to an Albany Law Review article by Paul Lombardo. In The Funding of Scientific Racism, scholar William Tucker reveals how Pioneer board members and grantees sought to block the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

In recent decades, the Pioneer Fund has funded most American and British race scientists, including a large number cited in The Bell Curve. According to Barry Mehler, the leading academic critic of the fund, these race scientists have included Hans Eysenck, Robert A. Gordon, Linda Gottfredson, Seymour Itzkoff, Arthur Jensen, Michael Levin, Richard Lynn, R. Travis Osborne, Roger Pearson, J. Philippe Rushton, William Shockley and Daniel R. Vining Jr.

Last year, Rushton became the fourth president of the fund. He disavows the terms “inferior” and “superior” but, as psychologist Andrew S. Winston points out, Rushton has produced a chart in which blacks “are said to have, on average, smaller brains, lower intelligence, lower cultural achievements, higher aggressiveness, lower law-abidingness, lower marital stability and less sexual restraint than whites, and the differences are attributed partially to heredity.”

Pioneer grantees have also included white supremacist Jared Taylor. According to Hold Your Tongue, a book by education expert James Crawford, the Pioneer Fund also “aided the Institute for Western Values — the same group Cordelia May [Scaife, sister of Richard Mellon Scaife] paid to distribute [the racist book] The Camp of the Saints — in publishing the autobiography of Thomas Dixon,” whose racist novels helped spark the Klan’s rebirth in 1915.

Pioneer also has given grants to the American Immigration Control Foundation*, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, Roger Pearson’s Institute for the Study of Man, Jared Taylor’s New Century Foundation* and Project USA, an anti-immigration group run by a FAIR board member.”

Several years ago, the SPLC pegged the Pioneer Fund as a leading supporter and ‘parent’ of the anti-immigration movement.  Be aware it isn’t just anti-illegal – but anti-immigration. This is March, 2003.

There is more, much more.  Tanton is associated with the Pioneer Fund.  This NYTimes 1977 expose on the founders of the Pioneer Fund should say it all and many any decent person change their opinion of the US HOUSE version of anti-immigration.  It should also damn Tom Tancredo and a few more of his ilk.

This is a very real and serious concern and every American who recognizes the true intentions of Proposition 187 should oppose it with their last breath and their last ounce of strength before it is too late.”

And a little more on Prop 187 and the laws Tanton helped pass, “Almost 30 states and many more local communities passed “English Only” statutes enshrining English as the language of official business. In 1994, after extensive campaigning by Tanton-supported groups, millions of Californians joined in passing Proposition 187, which denied social services to undocumented workers.Two years later, Tanton celebrated the passage of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, a law meant to cut illegal immigration that was heavily backed by anti-immigration groups. It required that asylum seekers be held in detention until they established a credible fear of persecution at home, a process that could take years.”

Martin Mallard is exposed in this piece by Humberto Caspa for the Orange County Organizer.  He also writes for the Neo Nazi newspaper for the American Nationalist Union.  They have links to the American Journal, which actually has an excellent links page.  It has everything but the kitchen sink.

Despite proven evidence of his rage against minority groups, a majority in the City Council allowed Millard a seat in the Redevelopment and Residential Rehabilitation committee (6). This committee makes recommendations to government officials on the distribution of funds to charities in town.  Millard also served the West Revitalization Oversight Committee.“

The New Nation News claims to be a paper for ‘whites’.  Check out their anti-Hispanic material.

And, you may as well be exposed to “Christian Identity” which has nothing to do with the teachings of Christ.  And you may as well expose yourself to their links.  They are distasteful, but ignorance is not bliss.  It is simply ignorance.

Stormfront is deeply invested in the CofCC.  And the CofCC links to the American Nationalist Union.  There, you see a call to slam Chris Cannon with email, etc.  Yep, the Nazis don’t like Chris Cannon.  Well, that does it for me.  I’d vote for him.  They also link to TT!  But then, why not?  He’s their darling.

Chuck Currie’s blog exposes the Nazi links to Gilchrist and to the Minuetmen.

The SPLC has also exposed the Nazi links. 

 ”Neo-Nazis volunteered for Jim Gilchrist’s recent congressional campaign and distributed racist propaganda at Gilchrist rallies with the full knowledge of the Minuteman Project co-founder and his campaign managers, according to a former Gilchrist campaign volunteer whose account is supported by photographs, video footage and postings on the white supremacist Web site Stormfront.

“They were basically allowing Skinheads and white nationalists to work the phone banks and do IT [computer work] and distribute National Alliance fliers targeting non-whites,” Cliff May, a dance instructor in Orange County, Calif., told the Intelligence Report. “When I told Mary [Gilchrist's finance manager] and Eldon [Gilchrist's grassroots coordinator] that I didn’t want to work for a campaign that was tainted by white supremacy in any way, they told me not to cause a stir.

“When I kept bringing it up, they kicked me out.”

Photographs taken at an Oct. 29 Gilchrist rally in Sacramento show a man outfitted like a Nazi Skinhead distributing propaganda from the neo-Nazi National Alliance. “I talked with Gilchrist about it and he said they’d decided to, in his words, ‘let it go,’” May said. Three weeks later, May says he spotted two neo-Nazis among a crowd of Gilchrist campaign volunteers at a City Council meeting in Lake Forest, Calif. May recognized the young man and woman from photographs of neo-Nazis giving seig-heil salutes in front of swastika banners at an anti-immigration protest in Laguna Beach four months earlier, in July. May said he videotaped the neo-Nazis at the November meeting in Lake Forest and immediately afterward played the footage on a big screen television at Gilchrist’s campaign headquarters.”

“Elsewhere, at least a few neo-Nazis continued to openly support Minuteman events like “Stop the Invasion,” when 44 rallies were held in 20 states on Jan. 7. The local organizer for the Stop the Invasion rally in Austin, Texas, was identified on a nationally distributed contact sheet as “SSTexas88″ (88 is neo-Nazi shorthand for “HH,” or “Heil Hitler”), the same Web handle used by a self-described “24-year-old white power skinbyrd [a female Skinhead] from Austin, Texas” on various neo-Nazi Web sites. A woman who identified herself only as “Jenny” led the sparsely attended rally in front of the Texas Capitol wearing a shirt bearing the emblem of Hammerskin Nation, a violent neo-Nazi Skinhead syndicate.” 

And in Feb, in DC, at a rally where both Gilchrist and TT were featured speakers, the Washington Post reports, “The fervor subsided only when two men dressed in brown and wearing swastikas goose-stepped toward the Minutemen and gave a Nazi salute. The men, straight out of “The Producers,” handed out fliers encouraging the Minutemen to “end your alliance with the Republicans!!!” — and join the American Nazi Party. Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist called for an intermission “to resolve this situation.”

And Stormfront is working to infiltrate the GOP.  “We can change the course of the republican party. You don’t need to say “We need to help white people.” Today you don’t even hear “We need to help black people” from any politician today. It’s “we need to help Americans.” Duke would have been better off starting a Political Action Committee for whites or abetting the Council for Conservative Citizens. There’s a group with potential, they have had top name republican leaders make speeches. All you need to do is ask one question of them, “What will you do to help White Americans, your base of support?”

You will also want to check out Fire Dog Lake and their Gilchrist/Nazi/Minuteman expose. “But Gilchrist has larger ambitions.  He just ran and lost an independent bid for Congress in the 48th district in California to replace Representative Chris Cox.  And though he didn’t run on the Republican Party line, he did offer to caucus with the GOP, Tom Tancredo endorsed him, and his supporters certainly were Republican stalwarts.  I followed the race through the Powder Blue blog, which covers immigration and Orange County Republican politics.  Though bucking the party this once, the blogger at Powder Blue is a staunch Republican activist who started blogging because his neighbor Hugh Hewitt gave him enouragement.  In other words, Gilchrist is well within the mainstream of the Republican Party and the right-wing blogosphere.  100 tribes with 100 languages, and neighbors killing one another.  Mainstream alright.”

James Chase over at the Border Watch or what ever it is, exposed the Nazi ties to the Minutemen over a year ago.   In my mind there’s not much difference between the Nazi bunch and the new KKK.  Is there a link between the KKK and Tancredo?  Check out this Pink Flamingo post done just last week.

I surfed to this via Tancredo Watch.  It is incredibly disturbing.  If it is true – it confirms everything I’ve been saying – and thinking.  It comes from the Klan Politician Watch. – where the following comment is made…”…Society members (pass-code protected). It was given to me by a former high ranking Klansman who has denounced his membership in America’s first terrorist organization….” Fascinatingly, the blog only has this one post.  The ownership of the blog is designated as a ‘deputy sheriff’ and male.  The posting is so strange, deal with it yourself.  I don’t like what I see and it points to information I have been uncovering.  I cannot prove any of it – and don’t want to accuse anyone of anything, especially Haley Burbur, who has renounced all association with the CofCC.
