Just who and what is Patrick J. Buchanan?  Is he a  racist, facist,  anti-Semetic, neo-Nazi, ultra conservative, anti-Hispanic, or just a bad judge of character and associates?  In his favor, according to Peter Brimelow of VDare, Buchanan is a cat-lover.   A series of articles from The Public Eye.  The ultimate in fair and balanced, a comment from about Buchanan from FOX news chief Roger Ailes.  And the ADL.

In this article, Phillips, (remember, he is an anti-Bush conservative Republican) raises the issue of similarity between the current campaign and the Weimar period in Germany when the fascists were organizing under the banner of national socialism and popular discontent….”

The Larry Pratt problem.  Is he or isn’t he a Nazi?  Is he or isn’t he still associated with Buchanana?

“…Critics of the English-only movement who have long suspected a “Nazi connection” may finally have found one in the person of Larry Pratt, cochairman of the Pat Buchanan presidential campaign. Until yesterday Pratt was an obscure third-stringer for the New Right. Today his face is on front pages across the country, thanks to his inopportune appearances with leaders of white supremacist organizations, including Aryan Nations and Christian Identity. Pratt reportedly addressed meetings sponsored by these groups to organize and promote armed militias. Interviewed on ABC’s “Nightline,” he claimed not to have known about the Nazi sympathies of his fellow speakers, even though one identified himself as “a 100 percent bigot” and used Hitler’s favorite salute.

Press accounts have identified Larry Pratt as the director of Gun Owners of America (GOA). But they have neglected to note that he is also the president of English First, a group he founded in 1986 to combat bilingualism and advocate English as the nation’s official language. English First and GOA currently share a suite of offices in Springfield, Va., along with other Pratt-created lobbies, including the Committee to Protect the Family and U.S. Border Control….

What are the Buchanan connections? “…Larry Pratt’s association with Pat Buchanan goes back many years. Pratt runs an assortment of far-right outfits out of an office in the D.C. area, including Gun Owners of America and English First, and has ties to anti-abortion groups as well. Pratt led an anti-abortion walkout from a Presidential conference on the family. His Gun Owners of America, which provided key funding to elect pro-militia Congress-members in the 1994 Republican take-over of Congress, was an early endorser of Buchanan’s 1996 campaign. Pratt is himself a former elected official. He served as a right wing Virginia state legislator. Far from simply having made an error in judgment in attending one meeting with Klansmen and racists, he has been a key figure straddling the line and providing links between the “mainstream” right, Christian Reconstructionism, and the openly neo-nazi forces of Christian Identity and the Aryan Nations. He has spoken, for example, at the Jubilee “Jubilation,” a California gathering sponsored by the leading Christian Identity newspaper, along with Aryan Nations “ambassador” and former Texas Klan leader Louis Beam. He was a repeated guest on Christian Identity minister Pete Peters’s talk show….”
