A PONDERING AMERICAN EXPOSE: NetAdvocates

Let us start looking at an interesting company called NetAdvocates. First, I have to admit NetAdvocates has a sense of humor and in fact is quite forthright in its mission. Under its name we have-Blog Intelligence and Advocacy Service (BIAS). So Bias is the name of the game. From parts of their blog:

What We Do

NetVocates provides its clients with expertise in blog monitoring and advocacy. Our trained staff of experts utilizes a unique combination of proprietary technology and human analysis to deliver a focused stream of timely, actionable intelligence to our clients. products anWe then conduct direct and transparent outreach to bloggers to help provide information about d issues important to our clients.

I think the next part is iimportant:

Our Philosophy.

NetVocates believes transparency is the currency of the blogosphere. When we conduct outreach to bloggers, we are clear about our employment with NetVocates on behalf of a specific company or organization. We abide by the Word of Mouth Marketing Association’s standard that “You say who you’re speaking for.” We never engage in anonymous commenting on blogs, and instead are clear with bloggers and the public when we are speaking on behalf of our clients.

Now notice that they say their policy is not to anonymous commnet on blogs. I will take them at their word. There are other companies that don’t do that. But notice there is of course no obligation imposed by the blogger to mention his relationship with NetAdvocates. So what else do they do:

the account manager working with the client to determine relevant topics to monitor (e.g. key messages, brands, and opponents). Then proprietary technology is paired with personal research to effectively monitor more than 38 million blogs.

Analyze. A team of blog intelligence experts analyze content, tone and relative importance of the coverage, collecting and presenting the data in meaningful ways. This process distills blog chatter into actionable intelligence in a weekly report.

Careful research and client consultation create a messaging strategy tailored to maximize the positive effect of key trends and events. NetVocates then conducts direct and transparent outreach to bloggers in order to reinforce key messages on targeted blogs – and help rebut misinformation when appropriate.

In their job opportunities section.

NetVocates, a blog analysis and outreach firm based in Manchester, NH continues to expand rapidly and needs talented individuals to join our team. Our clients are Fortune 500 companies that expect top-notch work, and we are passionate and proud to produce results for them. Team members will usually have a background in public affairs, public relations, politics, or marketing

Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact with the client and works to develop online communications strategies. In addition, the Account Manager is responsible for regular reporting and coordination with the client. A successful candidate will have experience in politics, public affairs, public relations, or a related field

Other job descriptions ask for similar qualifications. Let me also note that even though they mention clients that are in Fortune 500, I think perhaps they have other clients as well. Let me make an observation. THIS ROCKS- YO NETADVOCATES I WOULD BE PERFECT AT THIS STUFF ESPECIALLY IN THE POLITICAL AREA GIVE ME A JOB. Ok to continue on what is this company. NetAdvocates is located in New Hampshire at 186 Granite Street, 3rd Floor Manchester, NH 03101. I would perhaps note that address and write it down if you like to puruse FEC reports and 990  IRs statements as a possible thing to watch for by the way. However Net Advocates is actually owned by some other company. That is Griffin Strategy Group, LLC  also licated in New Hampshire. I would write that down also to be on the look out for in the before mention reports. Well the owner is a very enterprising man by the name of Chip Griffi His Bio states:Chip Griffin is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor who has been part of several successful startups, including CustomScoop and NetVocates. He is the Managing Director of AOS Ventures, a small group of angel investors. He began his career in Washington, DC working on Capitol Hill. He has worked for a think tank, a PR agency, and a political consulting firm. In the mid 1990’s, he served as the CEO of townhall.com, a conservative Internet portal, where he gained his first experience in business leadership. Since that time, he has founded his own political consulting firm and has been a founder or co-founder of more than a half dozen different companies. He is a graduate of American University. He splits his time between Washington, DC and New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife and two sons. Now of course the first thing that pops out ot me that he was CEO of Townhall.com. Pretty damn impressive. I  encourage you to visit his blog here as well as his other site I found called netscoop. A few words on Mr Griffin. Some people as you shall soon see view what he is doing as quite abhorrent. I disagree. It is marketing and advocacy in the internet age. Get used to it. But again I think that knowing such sites exist as this is important. Again, things may not be what they seem political wise in the blogsphere.
