Ode to the Minutemen, Those Brave, Daring Stalwarts of American…BS!

“Minuteman Border Fence

Successful Groundbreaking

More than 1,500 volunteer to build the fence along with Chris Simcox and Alan Keyes”

This breathless (well it feels breathless) plea from Chris Simcox via NewsMax invited me to join he and Alan Keyes (yep, you heard right) down on the border to build a fence.  Now remember all of this is brought to you by William Greene’s incestuous little ring of conservative BS.

And we are treated to a photo of Alan Keyes, that usually immaculately dressed executive all cowboyed up.  Now if you are a Tombstone scholar as am I, the term ‘cowboy’ has some nasty connotations of outlaws, stage robbers, murderers, and the guys who were on the brink of starting a war with Mexico back in 1881-1882.  It took Wyatt Earp to clean ‘em out and he spent the rest of his life paying for it.

And when the heck did Alan Keyes morph into a ‘minuteman leader?  Well, it’s a long story.  Sit back and get a stiff drink. You are going to need one.

Once upon a time in a land called conservative, a very scary little rich billionaire scared the sap out of vigiliant, patriotic patriots who wanted to make sure the conservatives remained dedicated to that patriotic patriot image…and so…William Greene, that bastion of faith decided he would beat George Soros at his own game.   And so, boys and girls, the manipulation began.

The big link is Connie Hair who works for both Simcox, Keyes, and Greene.

Greene hitched his wagon on Keye’s fading star and then threw his lot in with the minutemen.  And boys, and girls, if you try this link, you will find minutemen stuff on Greene’s rightway web site.  Aren’t we having fun!  I was trying to pull up the minuteman hq!

And, for just $99 you can blast fax everyone in Washington and their husbands and fathers!  Jim and Tammie never had it so good.  What the heck are they doing with all of this money!

Tell Congress to REJECT Amnesty for Illegal Aliens!
YES, I want to help FIGHT Against ANY “Guest Worker” Amnesty Bill!

We need to mobilize folks to take action right away… So we’ve set up an easy way for you to make your voice heard LOUD AND CLEAR — you can send “Blast Faxes” to hundreds of U.S. Congressmen AT ONCE, urging that they REJECT ANY “immigration bill” that includes ANY “guest worker” amnesty provisions.

Now this is the deal.  If you hit http://www.MinutemanHQ.com you come up with Greene’s site.  If you do http://www.minutemanhq.com   you come up with the Simcox site.  Now, is Greene giving Simcox the shaft?

And from Pink Flamingo, yesterday:

The other day I told you there was trouble in Minuteman Paradise.  Well, it continues.  Gilchrist and his Minuteman Project and Simcox have definately split.  Word is Simcox could have some financial accountability problems down the line.   If you check out the Gilchrist site and compare it with the Simcox site  you might notice that Gilchrist has a little ego thing going on here.  You know, this could be fun before it’s over.  We’re talking egos here as big as…the planet Jupiter!

Then last week, as reported here, Casey Nethercort of Ranch Rescue has turned on the Minutemen, et. al.  “

They may have begun feeding on their own – or we can hope for it.  Casey Nethercott, not a stranger to shady associates now claims Jim Gilchrist has KKK and neo-nazi associates. And the FBI is investigating them.  This came out in today’s Sierra Vista paperWith any luck they have begun feeding on their own.”"James Gilchrist is swinging the door open for every wacko, and wackos are the bad percentage of white supremacists, white power,” Nethercott said. They’re racists he cannot control. Sitting in an office on about a 100-acre ranch, the southern boundary of which is 30 feet from the border, the 37-year-old militia leader said that while he supports Tombstone newspaper owner and Civil Homeland Defense founder Simcox, he believes Simcox has made a bad deal with Gilchrist.

Both Minuteman Project leaders have lost control of the people who are volunteering, Nethercott said.

White supremacists bother him.

“If I see Nazi armbands and skinheads and neo-Nazis ’sieg heiling’ and marching down Puzzi Ranch Road, I’ll make one call to the sheriff’s department,” Nethercott said.

Then he said he would arrest them for trespassing on private property because half of the road is ranch land.

And Nethercott doesn’t hide the possibility he will counter armed volunteers of the Minuteman Project with his own “special forces trained soldiers.”

“If I catch 10 skinheads with guns walking on my property, honestly they will probably be so afraid of what they will see they will probably surrender on the spot. They have no integrity. They’re not soldiers. They’re cowards,” he said.

Unlike those who will be part of the Minuteman Project, Nethercott said his militia group is well-regulated, as required by the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

Saying he helps train his militia members to strict standards, Nethercott comes off as a man with a lot of military background.

However, according to records at the Cochise County Superior Court filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center, his military experience is slightly more than a month.

According to part of a 2004 filing by Kelley McNair-Bruner of the Montgomery, Ala., based organization, Nethercott enlisted in the Army on March 29, 1986 and was discharged May 1, 1986, for failing to meet training standards.”

BINGO!  It isn’t the first time Gilchrist has changed his tune. He started out as a registered Democrat, then became a Republican. In 2003, he backed a candidate of the Green Party, America’s largest left-wing political party. But now, Gilchrist is running in the 48th Congressional District on the ticket of the American Independent Party (AIP) — the organization founded by former Alabama Gov. George Wallace, a racist who promised from the steps of the Alabama Capitol to defend segregation “forever.” (Today, AIP’s platform does not mention race. Affiliated with the far-right Constitution Party, the AIP is notable for its antigovernment stance.)

Gilchrist, a retired accountant, is running, essentially, on a single credential: the fact that he is co-founder, along with Chris Simcox, of the Minutemen, a group of people who have tried to seal the Mexican border with paramilitary citizen patrols. Few analysts believe he has a chance, although he may do reasonably well. Gilchrist, conceding that Gov. Wallace “was probably a bigot,” insists he is no racist. But he is a close friend of Barbara Coe, who routinely describes Mexicans as “savages” and recently said she was a member of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a hate group which opposes “race-mixing.” Gilchrist also is a member of Coe’s California Coalition for Immigration Reform, another hate group”

And here is an expose on his left-wing socialist activities.  Yep, the darling of the conservative pundits is a dyed in the wool socialist!

This is eye-opening expose on the minutemenAnd more information about their problems.  Someone I know is quoted in this article, and as I know this person to be honest and above reproach, I’ll take his word for things.

Chris Simcox:  Profile.   And for those who have wondered how on earth Sean Hannity could have been conned into the whole Minuteman scam, just check this out!     Seems like the Minuteman project’s PR person  is a friend of Hannity’s.  Explains everything.  Scary, isn’t it when a trusted ‘conservative’ newsman loses his objectivity.  This is one of the few profiles of Simcox.  It is very revealing.  as is this one

Here is another revealing piece about Simcox.

And the Gilchrist Minuteman Caravan (what a joke!)

And, if intellectual honesty were to continue with the MSM, FOX, and our conservatives, someone would come out and give the accurate figures for the much celebrated Minuteman Caravan, which was a dismal failure.  The total head count for the venture was maybe 1190 people or so who showed up at all the rallies.  Problem is, we don’t know how many people were duplicates – had attended other rallies?  I think we can safely say at least 90 would fall into that head count, putting the total attendance at maybe 1100 at the most.  This is not a movement.  This isn’t even a blip on the screen.  This is a fringe group of a few people most of whom aren’t all that well balanced!

And so, my faith in the basic decency of human nature has been restored.  I was wondering which sector of the American people were going to fall for all of this truly bigoted nastiness.  Evidently the old adage still works:  You can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time – or something like that.  The American people are finally starting to see through the hype.  One of these days, if we aren’t careful, people are going to wake up with a very nasty hang-over.  When that happens, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Michael Reagan, Mike Gallagher, and a few other decent people are going to have egg all over their faces.

The gang-busters Minuteman Caravan pulled into DC today with maybe 50 cars.  Here is one account.  Evidently the press contengent was larger than the entire collection of Minuteman and protesters.  Looks like fewer than 100 people showed up for this much promoted fiasco.

Sixty showed up in Richmond.

150 showed in ABQ.

150 showed in Phoenix.

There was no rally in Memphis – they had no permit.

500 were in Crawford.

Forty showed up in Abilene

The Greensboro rally was canceled.

150 showed up in Nashville

70 were in Birmingham

100 were at the Atlanta rally.

I can find nothing about the Montgomery rally.

This gives us a total rally head count of  eleven hundred and ninty people – how many were duplicates?  This is hardly the earth shattering turnout heralded for the past week or so on World Net Daily, and several other sites and blogs.  You may have been following WND’s breathless coverage, leaving out the actual numbers of people who DID NOT show up.
