Peter Brimelow, Purveyor of Hate, Master of Vdare

You decide.

First, let’s start with Brimelow’s friend, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, staunch conservative, defender of the homeland, promoter of the minutemen,, et. al…..Yep, Tancredo, who completely denied having any sort of white supremicist or Nazi connections on the O’Reilly show (I heard him) wrote a letter to Salon Magazine defending Peter Brimelow, whose twin brother, has very close Nazi ties – documented associations.  This is Tom Tancredo who waxes poetic about the problems on the border.  The Tom Tancredo who has userpted the power of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.  This is Tom Tancredo a Republican, no less….defending Brimelow (Peter) against charges of racism, etc.  Interestingly, Brimelow isn’t even mentioned in the article, but Tancredo is.

“…Finally, when I was asked about the genesis of the name “Vdare,” I replied truthfully that I did not know. Mr. Blumenthal characterized this response as culpable “befuddlement” on my part. Nonetheless, I can say that I was aware of editor Peter Brimelow’s solid credentials as a professional journalist, and I had no reason to believe that this online magazine is anything but a legitimate contributor to the vast library of resources on this vital issue. After looking over Vdare’s recent work, I have not changed this opinion. — Tom Tancredo

Peter Brimelow is the mastermind behind The Center for American Unity, dedicated, its website claims, to Unite America.  How you might ask?  Simple is my answer – English only. In Vdare he writes the following about GWB’s immigration plans:

“It will liquidate the American nation.Already, the Census Bureau projects that whites—known to history as “Americans,” the founders and until recently the overwhelming majority of the country—will become a minority in 50 years.  The Bush-Bartley bill can only accelerate this unprecedented attack by a government on its own people.”

Why else is this important?  Well, as Subway Canaries has shown time and time again, Michelle Malkin, one of the trio of extreme RINO conservative Brittany wanna-be’s is a regular at Brimelow’s Vdare.

Brimelow mainstreams his theories through Vdare, which even features Michelle Malkin, the darling of the RINO Conservative set. He is praised by the other Empress of Mean, Ann Coulter.  I can’t imagine any viable writer quoting Brimelow, considering his background, but Coulter the vicious does.

Also, someone must have finally told Bush that the point about America being a “nation of immigrants” is moronic. All nations are “nations of immigrants” — as Peter Brimelow pointed out brilliantly in his 1992 article in National Review on immigration, which left nothing for anyone else to say. Of the “nation of immigrants” locution, Brimelow says: “No discussion of U.S. immigration policy gets far without someone making this helpful remark. As an immigrant myself, I always pause respectfully. You never know. Maybe this is what they’re taught to chant in schools nowadays, a sort of multicultural Pledge of Allegiance. … Do they really think other nations sprouted up out of the ground?” Brimelow then ran through the Roman, Saxon, Viking, Norman-French, Welsh and Celtic immigrant influences in Britain alone. “

In an effort to be fair and balanced, you will want to read the Front Page Mag symposium that features both Brimelow and Jarrod Taylor.  Are they racist, are they just putting a good front things, or are we wrongfully accusing them of darker paths that don’t exist?  You decide.  (This is from the sidebar of the ADL report on Taylor:  “Jared Taylor and the neo-Nazis Taylor’s writings have found a responsive audience among unapologetic Jew-haters and Hitler acolytes. In the early 1990s, his work was reprinted, under the name Samuel Taylor, in Spearhead,2 an extremist journal in England closely affiliated with the neo-Nazi British National Party. He has also been reprinted in the Journal of Historical Review, published by the California-based Institute for Historical Review, the leading Holocaust-denial organization in the country. He was a featured speaker, along with Holocaust deniers and neo-Nazis, at the 1994 convention of the Populist Party, which was founded by Willis Carto and ran David Duke as its presidential candidate in 1988. He has also appeared on “Radio Free America,” for several years a popular patriot radio show sponsored by Liberty Lobby.

Brimelow’s twin brother, Peter is a known ex-Nazi who still associates with his old buddies.    “John Brimelow (twin brother of Peter Brimelow, author of the influential anti-immigration tract Alien Nation) who runs the popular VDARE.com website attended and was observed cloistered in the atrium consorting with Black and his cohorts. A controversial figure for some within the American Renaissance milieu, David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (who was succeeded by Black), was there as were the far-right radio talk show host Hal Turner, Mark Weber, director of the California-based Holocaust denial outfit the Institute for Historical Review (IHR), Kevin Strom of National Vanguard and David Pringle, both former members of the neo-Nazi National Alliance. There was also a large contingent of Canadians led by Paul Fromm of the Canada First Immigration Reform Committee. Fromm is a friend of the Holocaust deniers Lady Michelle Renouf and Ernst Zündel who, much to Fromm’s annoyance, is currently on trial in Germany..”

Brimelow started out as an editor for Forbes, but, according to this posting on his Vdare web site, Forbes no longer picked up his columns after 2001.  Wonder why?  And a link to his official portrait.  Ego?

The SPLC expose:  “one that is actually used by many of those who attended the New Orleans meeting of the Rockford Institute’s John Randolph Club, might be racial nationalists. The club used to include libertarians and others with a variety of political views but, as chronicled in an important article by James Lubinskas, that has changed. The club has shrunk, become more politically isolated, and focused in on issues related to race. Peter Brimelow exemplifies that change. In 1995, he published the bestselling Alien Nation, a book that argued that America is historically white-dominated and should stay that way — but that was also written in a genial style and was careful to treat black Americans as part of the polity. By 1997, he was warning that by 2008 the GOP would no longer be able to compete in presidential elections because the racial makeup of the electorate would be changed by non-white immigration. Today, the former senior editor at Forbes magazine edits an anti-immigration Web page that carries an array of frankly white supremacist and anti-Semitic essays. The Role of Race Brimelow’s political evolution might have been predicted. Although his Alien Nation was well reviewed in many places, it included strong veins of racism and xenophobia. …”   About the Rockwell Institute. and the SPCL report.

Read carefully the Vdare article supporting (sort of ) David Duke and remember Brimelow owns Vdare.

More from the SPLC report – which is very important.  We’re dealing with entangled links here, people.  “…Back to the FutureFast forward to 2003. Once a relatively mainstream anti-immigration page, VDARE has now become a meeting place for many on the radical right. One essay complains about how the government encourages “the garbage of Africa” to come to the United States. The same writer says once the “Mexican invasion” engulfs the country, “high teenage birthrates, poverty, ignorance and disease will be what remains.” Another says that Hispanics have a “significantly higher level of social pathology than American whites. … In other words, some immigrants are better than others.” Yet another complains that a Jewish immigrant rights group is helping “African Muslim refugees” come to America. Brimelow’s site carries archives of columns from men like Sam Francis, who is the editor of the newspaper of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens, a group whose Web page recently described blacks as “a retrograde species of humanity.” It has run articles by Jared Taylor, the editor of the white supremacist American Renaissance magazine, which specializes in dubious race and IQ studies and eugenics, the “science” of “race betterment” through selective breeding. Recently, VDARE has even begun to publish the writings of Kevin MacDonald, a psychology professor at California State-Long Beach. MacDonald accuses Jews of “dominating” the “movement to change the ethnic balance of the United States by allowing mass, non-traditional [i.e., non-white] immigration.” He writes that Jews, believing “the masses ha[ve] to be deceived,” frame their appeals in universalistic language. But behind that are “the Jewish agendas” of the deceivers. MacDonald also mentions “the famously heavy Jewish role” in television news….”

Brimelow recently took on the Rocky Mountain News after he was called ‘white seperatist’.  …”

Summary: Even as he criticized a Rocky Mountain News article that described his VDARE.com as a “white nationalist Web site,” Peter Brimelow acknowledged that VDARE publishes writers that he “regard[s] as ‘white nationalist.’ ” VDARE has recently been touted by radio hosts Mike Rosen and Peter Boyles.

In a July 23 “Speakout” op-ed in the Rocky Mountain News, Peter Brimelow — editor of the “immigration reduction” website VDARE.com, a website recently touted by radio hosts Mike Rosen and Peter Boyles — acknowledged that VDARE.com publishes writers he “regard[s] as ‘white nationalist.’ ” Brimelow’s admission came as he called a July 15 Rocky Mountain News article that described VDARE.com as a “white nationalist Web site” “seriously wrong” and a “mischaracterization” of the website.

According to Brimelow, such “white nationalist” authors “unashamedly work for their people — exactly as La Raza works for Latinos and the Anti-Defamation League works for Jews.”

In his Rocky Mountain News op-ed, Brimelow, who also is a financial journalist for MarketWatch.com and the president of the Center for American Unity, responded to a July 15 News investigative article by staff reporter Kevin Flynn that scrutinized out-of-state contributions to Defend Colorado Now (DCN). DCN was the campaign organization for Initiative 55, a proposed constitutional amendment to deny non-federally mandated, non-emergency services to illegal immigrants. Flynn reported that DCN received “[i]ts largest contributions from a national group whose longstanding campaigns for immigration cuts, border defense and official English have brought it some fringe and sometimes unwelcome bedfellows — racists.” In his article, Flynn described VDARE.com as a “white nationalist Web site.”

Brimelow responded in his Rocky Mountain News op-ed that “the merest glance [at VDARE.com] would show that we are not ‘white nationalist.’ ” Brimelow explained, however, “We also publish on VDARE.com a few writers — for example, Jared Taylor — whom I would regard as ‘white nationalist,’ in the sense that they aim to defend the interests of American whites.” Taylor is editor of the magazine American Renaissance, which the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has described as “focus[ing] on alleged links between race and intelligence, and on eugenics, the now discredited ‘science’ of breeding better humans.” The SPLC also described Taylor as “a courtly presenter of ideas that most would describe as crudely white supremacist.”
